Under the partnership with GIZ, Delft Imaging had completed a project in strengthening COVID-19 screening capacities for employee health programs in Indonesia. Together with our partners Thirona, Fullerton Health Indonesia, IDBH Senso, and Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Indonesia, over 4,000 people were screened with a digital screening platform, exceeding the project’s target.

Between October 2020 to March 2021, mobile trucks fitted with digital X-ray and Delft’s screening platform (CAD4COVID software and SAM platform) were deployed to conduct COVID-19 screening programs in Greater Jakarta, Surabaya (East Java), Sukabumi, and Bandung (West Java). This includes companies in the hospitality, manufacturing, oil, and gas, and mining sector as well as residents of local communities in Jakarta and Tangerang.

Workplace clusters contributed the most to the total COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. Thus, not only the project supported quickly triage COVID-19 suspects and reduced the number of confirmatory tests required, it also effectively mitigated the potential risks of further spreading the virus at workplaces, communities, and households. Ultimately, protecting employees’ health, safety, and business continuity will help to sustain economic activities and recovering from financial status.

Additionally, the project has delivered the capacity building and knowledge transfer of using digital technologies for COVID-19 screening to Indonesian health workers. The systems are ready to be continuously used for COVID-19 screening and beyond to respond to the public health needs in Indonesia.

This development partnership is part of the develoPPP.de programme that the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH implements on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
