Nigeria – Community ACF with Delft Light & CAD4TB
Community-based active TB case finding in Delta State using portable digital X-ray with CAD4TB achieved high screening coverage, full evaluation of presumptive cases, and a high TB yield, demonstrating the value of AI-supported screening in community settings.
Implemented in Delta State
Active TB case finding was implemented in Delta State to improve early detection at the community level.
Using ultra-PDX with CAD4TB
Portable digital X-ray systems with CAD4TB were used to screen clients and identify presumptive TB cases.
Molecular diagnostic evaluation
Presumptive TB cases were evaluated using WHO-recommended molecular rapid diagnostic tests.
Targeted community outreach
Screening focused on improving evaluation rates and access to TB diagnostics across communities.
In the 2022 screening period, a total of 14,280 clients were screened for TB using PDX-CAD.
- A total of 19% of clients screened were confirmed to have TB (n=1,426; 270).
- Of these, 76% (n=268; 204) were clinically diagnosed through expert X-ray review, 1% (n=268; 2) were diagnosed using Truenat MTB-RIF, and 23% (n=268; 62) were diagnosed using Xpert MTB-RIF.
- Portable digital X-ray with CAD4TB achieved a high TB yield in community active case finding.
- Deploying more PDX-CAD systems could further increase TB detection.
- Targeted active case finding and support services enable early diagnosis, effective treatment, and reduced TB transmission.
