Indonesia – CAD4TB for Mass & Remote TB Screening

Prisoners queuing for TB and X-ray screening at a mobile clinic during a prison screening project in Cikarang, Indonesia, in partnership with URTA and Fullerton Health Foundation.

AI-supported chest X-ray screening using CAD4TB improved screening sensitivity, reduced diagnostic costs, and optimized the use of GeneXpert testing in high-risk TB populations.

Improving screening sensitivity at scale

Chest X-ray screening with CAD4TB was used to enhance the quality and sensitivity of TB screening in mass and remote settings.

Optimized diagnostic pathway

GeneXpert testing was reserved for individuals identified as presumptive TB based on CAD4TB scores.

Efficient use of molecular testing

Targeted testing reduced diagnostic costs and optimized GeneXpert capacity, allowing continued use for other priority diseases, including COVID-19.

Result

Radiologist agreement with CAD4TB:

65 % of radiologist
agreed that CAD4TB scores ≥60 indicate abnormal findings suggestive of TB
98 % of radiologist
agreed that CAD4TB scores <60 indicate normal findings

Conclusion
  • “The CAD4TB is in line with the radiologists’ expertise and has good sensitivity in high-risk TB populations”.
