This year, Delft Foundation supported the Elidiaries Foundation’s Bundle of Pages (BOP) project to build and equip local libraries with over 300 books & stationeries in three Ghanaian schools. This contribution also enables the activation of literary clubs dedicated to about 2,000 students.
Achieving quality education is a problem for many developing countries such as Ghana. There is no national policy for school libraries that compels school governing bodies to have a library in their schools. It is thus not surprising that in many schools, students still struggle with accessing both academic and personal development books. Research shows that school libraries can have a positive impact, whether measured in terms of reading scores, literacy, or learning more generally, on student achievement.
The Bundle of Pages (BOP) project is an annual outreach to schools that seeks to find every child and youth ‘informed for change and development’.
The distribution of personal development and academic books in these three Ghanaian schools will contribute to the fight against the lack of quality education where technological and financial disparities arise, inhibiting access to internet-based education (i.e., eLearning) and print books’ affordability.
