Pakistan’s battles for equity in health,
with Delft Imaging

Pakistan continues to face a significant tuberculosis burden, with the disease remaining a major public health challenge. Despite ongoing efforts to strengthen diagnosis and treatment, many people with TB remain undiagnosed, and high rates of drug-resistant TB and TB-HIV co-infection continue to strain the health system.

Our work in Pakistan

We have supported Pakistan’s TB response since 2013, contributing to the rapid expansion of digital X-ray infrastructure between 2022 and 2024. Today, more than 80,000 people are screened for TB each month through CAD4TB installations, with over 5 million individuals screened to date. This represents the largest AI-supported TB screening initiative worldwide, sustained through ongoing technical support from our local in-country partner.

2013

We provided 9 EasyDR X-ray systems equipped with CAD4TB to Interactive Research and Development (IRD), as well as partners in Bangladesh and South Africa, through TB Reach Wave 3. By 2016, that project had screened over one million people.

2013

Our partnership with IRD scaled into the world’s largest AI deployment for TB screening, with at least 76 CAD4TB installed in hospitals and mobile clinics nationwide. The rollout enabled rapid identification of suspected TB cases and included installation, training, and ongoing support.

2017-2019

We delivered an additional 18 CAD4TB systems — nine to the National Tuberculosis Program and nine to Mercy Corps.

2021

The National TB Program further expanded its use of AI diagnostics with the procurement of 40 additional CAD4TB.

2022

12 Delft MAC systems with CAD4TB were deployed, each delivered with full installation and user training.

2023

A total of 104 Delft Light and 57 Delft MAC were deployed across 3 major national projects, each paired with CAD4TB and supported by comprehensive training and maintenance services.

2024

We delivered 13 CAD4TB systems to Pakistan’s Ministry of Health. Later that year, 5 Delft Light systems and 8 CAD4TB were supplied to further strengthen TB screening.

2024

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) deployed a Delft Light system and 2 CAD4TB, and Nutramed FZCO acquired 20 CAD4TB systems to support ongoing TB control efforts.

Co-creating the future of lung health

Dr Adeel Tahir Director TB Program, Mercy Corps, Pakistan

“The best thing that CAD4TB has done that accuracy of diagnosis has been increased. When we use the score generated by CAD4TB, our physicians who are in the chest camps, they are quite comfortable and confident that ordering the sputum sample for these patients for GeneXpert would yield results. And the accuracy of software is quite high.”
